Sewing on a Rainy Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy day with lots accomplished in the sewing room. Since it rained a good part of the day, it was a good day for sewing. For starters, I sewed together the newest Gumballs blocks.

That makes 15 of 30 blocks for this project, and so I can say it's half finished. These are the blocks I have so far.

It seems like a mish-mash of colors, but the diagonals seem to bring out a bit of a pattern. I like this project. I might even be motivated to make another one in ...

One Day, Two Finishes from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and Happy Halloween!

Halloween is a non-event around here. Where we live, we don't get any trick-or-treaters. That doesn't mean we don't treat ourselves, though. We do have emergency candy in stock in case we need it. Smitty hasn't told me what he wants to be for Halloween. Sadie is going to dress up as a black cat.

I'm happy to say it was a day for slow yesterday. I took care of a few domestic things in the morning, and then I plopped myself down in a chair and spent ...

Some Sunshine from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. How are y'all doing this morning? It rained for a good part of the day yesterday. By afternoon, the clouds cleared off, and there was blue sky and sunshine. It was nice because Mike wanted to go out for dinner. After being cooped up inside for the past two days trying not to drown, we were both approaching a serious case of cabin fever. Then, when I awakened this morning, rain was coming down in buckets again. Possibly it was the last gasp of the atmospheric river that passed through because as I'm writing ...

Lotsa Blocks from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I thought the rain would hold off until tomorrow, but it looks as if it'll be joining us sooner than that. We're promised an "atmospheric river," meaning rain, rain, rain, and more rain. It's the Pacific Northwest. What can I say?

It's still dark outside as I write this. I'm hopeful the Firefighter dahlia will have opened a little more from yesterday's showing.

If it has, I'll probably just cut the flower and bring it in. The other dahlias have been moved indoors now. This one still needs to ...

Seeing Red from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. After writing yesterday's post, I proceeded to waste my morning hours messing with ChatGPT. This is the sort of thing that interests me not at all, but I was trying to create an AI image. It took me quite a while to understand the ins and outs of this. At one point I realized I was wasting my whole morning, and I decided to indulge in that luxury for a single morning. Since I needed to leave the house at 11:45 a.m., it didn't seem as if there was enough time to ...

Fabric Finding from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. These multi-appointment weeks are going to wear me down. I saw the dentist yesterday for a check-up and cleaning. Today I'm getting my monthly pedicure. The pedicure is nice, but it still means time out of the day, driving, traffic, and being away from home. I'm a homebody. There's no place I'd rather be, and so going out several times a week for two weeks running is wearisome.

Before leaving home yesterday, I had time to stitch the 8th Tiny Treasure. This one has stem stitch, stem fill, straight stitch, and French ...

Four Projects from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy day yesterday. I tried putting off the to-do's on my list, but I ended up doing everything. There was still time for plenty of sewing. My day started with a Bowflex workout...the first one in two weeks. I don't notice any problems with my shoulder. You might remember I had to take a break because of a muscle spasm. It seems completely gone now, and so I can resume my workouts. Also, I had some housekeeping chores on my list.

Of course, nothing happens here until I've done ...

What's Going On? from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! A lot of water has passed under the bridge since we chatted last time. It's been a busy couple of days. We've been fortunate to have a couple of days of good weather. When I left you on Friday, I was getting ready to have a late breakfast with Matthew. Before I left, I had a good start on the 3rd Tiny Treasure. It has about a zillion French knots, and so it was about three sittings to finish it off. The face, ears, and tail are done in a stem stitch fill. The ...

Slow Sewing Only from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a gardening day yesterday. I'm happy to have things mostly wrapped up for the winter. Before I started on that, though, I spent some time stitching the next Tiny Treasure. It looks like one treasure per day will probably be my limit. This one has stem stitch, satin stitch, seed stitch and fishbone stitch.

With that finished, it was time to get outside. I walked around to see if anything was still blooming. Although I didn't plant anything in the annual pots this year, the snapdragons and pansies came through like heroes ...

Keeping the Heat On from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Thanks to those of you who chimed in with well wishes about my shoulder spasm. It's feeling better this morning, but still not 100%. I spent most of the day leaning against my heating pad. Keeping it warm seems to help the most. Since I spent most of the day sitting, I don't have much to tell you this morning.

Let's just start with the lovely birthday dinner we had with the family last night. We were celebrating Erik's birthday at a restaurant we've been to before...Amaterra Winery. The restaurant ...
